On 22 November, Shanghai Gyrotec Technologies held a training event with the Plastic Surgery Laboratory of the Ninth People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The training provided a professional and in-depth explanation of the principles of bio-3D printing, materials, digital model processing, operation and precautions.

The Ninth People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine is one of the birthplaces of plastic and reconstructive surgery in China. It is a national key discipline, a key construction discipline of the 211 Project of the Ministry of Education of China and a medical centre of plastic surgery in Shanghai. It is also a national training centre for senior teachers and specialists in plastic surgery and a national continuing medical education programme unit. The department has undertaken major national and provincial research projects such as the national "973", "863", national medium and long-term science and technology plan and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. After more than 40 years of unremitting efforts, the Department has become the largest international centre for plastic surgery and the largest centre for medical education and research in plastic surgery in China.

The combination of theoretical and practical sessions made the course very beneficial for everyone. It allowed everyone to grasp the basic concepts of bio-3D printing, to be familiar with the use of 3D modelling software and to be able to operate the Gesim BioScaffolder 3.2 device correctly and independently.
